The Château

A Riviera estate with Imperial heritage

A story beginning in the 1860s

One of the surviving residences from the golden age of Cap d'Antibes.

The story of Château Algarve begins when Cap d'Antibes was becoming one of Europe's most sought-after destinations.

Built as a grand Neo-Renaissance residence overlooking the Mediterranean, it embodied the elegance and refinement that would define the French Riviera during the Belle Époque.

The Imperial Romanov Residence

Refuge on the Riviera

One of the most remarkable chapters in the Château's history began following the Russian Revolution. Château Algarve was owned by His Imperial Highness Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaievich Romanov, first cousin of Tsar Nicholas II and one of the most prominent members of the Russian Imperial Family.

Following the collapse of Imperial Russia, members of Europe's most influential imperial and royal dynasties visited during a period of extraordinary historical change.

The Montenegrin connection

A royal Montenegrin residence

Married to Grand Duke Nikolai Romanov, H.R.H. Princess Anastasia Petrović-Njegoš, daughter of King Nikolai I, made Château Algarve a royal Montenegrin residence.

The Château preserves the layered atmosphere of Riviera society, imperial exile and Mediterranean privacy that shaped Cap d'Antibes during the early twentieth century.

Riviera life, today

A true private residence

Unlike many modern luxury properties, Château Algarve retains the character of a private home. Elegant reception rooms, period architectural details, a mature garden and spectacular sea views create an experience that feels timeless and deeply connected to the Riviera.

Today, the Château welcomes guests from around the world to experience this unique chapter of Cap d'Antibes' heritage in exceptional comfort and privacy.
